….as with everything blog related I’m a bit late with my submissions
I love this old tree at the top of our beach walkway. It’s been dead for years but it’s old trunk is like a gateway to the beach below.

….rained all day weekend so I had to go into the archives to find a tree for Becca Givens weekly challenge
Branching out from below. Not sure why this old tree decided to start branching out closer to the ground.
….just when I said I was done with flowering trees this happened in my neighbourhood
These trees are everywhere in Toronto. I thought they were simply called white lilacs but they are actually Japanese Lilac trees. They bloom from early to mid June but everything is a week or two behind. Thanks Becca for hosting Sunday Trees.

This is the last of the trees in my neighbourhood to bloom. After some research I’ve discovered that is an aesculus or horse chestnut tree.

Now that trees in the neighbour are blooming like crazy I actually had to choose one photo over another. This tree looks beautiful but the smell from the blossoms is nauseating. After some investigation I believe this tree is called the Callery pear tree. If anyone thinks it’s something else I would appreciate knowing.

…..the streets are lined with these beautiful blossoming trees

A beautiful old Gingko tree in front of my daughter’s home. Notice the new green leaves. Things are changing quickly in this neck of the woods.
….pretty soon I’ll be able to post trees with green foliage
……for now I’ll have to be satisfied with interesting trunks and bark
