These poor trees snapped right at the base of the root. I’ve never seen one go down like this. They usually lose large branches or split down the middle.

…..now that we’ve officially had our first snow storm most of the trees have been stripped of their leaves
I’ve always been a huge fan of bark. I love the texture, the subtle colours and the interesting lines that bark produces.

The neighbouring tree looked like this one a few short weeks ago. One heavy downpour caused a few major limbs fell to the ground. It was clear that the tree had been infested and eaten from the inside out. Today it is a mere shadow of its glorious self.
….in the fall this is my favourite tree on Christian Island
