Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge – Orange and Pink
…thanks to Cee for hosting the The Fun Foto Challenge
Orange and Pink? Together? Now that’s a challenge.
Papa Can You Draw Me a Butterfly?
….a quick change in plans…the prepared drawing can wait for another day
Usually my husband draws one or two drawings ahead of the day he sends them to Winnie. Today she made a request that he couldn’t ignore so he quickly whipped up this lovely butterfly. Her comment: “It’s a beautiful butterfly. Is it a unicorn butterfly?”
Weekly Photo Challenge – Comfortable and Cozy
….thanks to Travelling at Wit’s End for this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge
When thinking of comfortable and cozy I immediately think of a big puffy blanket or an oversize sweater. It can also be how a place makes you feel when walk into it or an oversized armchair or sofa that you can sink into. What makes you comfortable and cozy?

Combining Lesson One With Lesson Two
….my last random page
In the first lesson we were instructed to paste random pictures or pieces of paper on different pages of our sketch book and then go back and add more detail and bits of collage to create a picture. I put aside seven pages and shared six with you before I started on lesson two.
Today I went back to my sketch book and decided to take my last random page and add some of the transparency film pieces that I had cut out for my abstract floral designs. The original piece was the Alice in Wonderland illustration and the spider was the second bit. Today I added the bird like creature in blue and I added a crown of pink hair and a red starburst. I also added a couple of speech bubbles to add a little humour.
I love doing Zentangles so I decided to tie everything together with black lines and patterns. The whole process was very relaxing and ‘zen’ like.
Red Duck
….#3 of the transparency film collages
I’m really enjoying this technique and as promised I tried something other than flowers. One of my random cuts turned out to look like a duck so I built a landscape around him. I can only assume he’s a he because of his bright colours. I added some marker detail on the duck, such as an eye and feathers. After gluing everything down I felt there was too much white so I added a wash of colour with my Winsor Newton Promarkers.

Nature’s Ice Sculptures
….with the spike in temperatures this weekend I’m not sure how long these will last
Unlike parts of England where they are already contemplating spring, we will certainly see more snow and ice and low temperatures. Right now we’ve gone from an Arctic Vortex to above freezing in a matter of days. It’s not very pretty out there with all the slush and run off from the snow banks. Fortunately I went out on Friday and found these beautiful ice sculptures along the shores of Lake Ontario just a couple hundred metres from our house. The ice is created when the waves hit the rocks and come up over the banks onto the trees and bushes.

It’s rare for Lake Ontario to freeze but you can see the ice flows close to the shore in some of these photos and yes those are swans out on the lake. Most of them have their heads nestled close to their bodies under their wings.
