    Location, location, location. Find a place (indirect light, but lots of it) they like and then do not budge them. I have quite a few orchids, they are all rescues [I have a neighbour who throws them in the garbage as soon as the first bloom droops] and they love the place I’ve found for them. Even though it is quite an awkward one for the human inhabitants (it blocks the dining table to an extent).

    That might be the problem. The only place I have is the kitchen which faces east and only gets the morning light but my amaryllis seems to love it there. The window by the staircase might work because the glass is frosted and is in front of a two story house. It’s a south facing window.
