A Day Full of Surprises

…. all good!

I started my day yesterday with our usual walked/run. I amazed myself and ran the farthest I’ve ever run without stopping, 3 complete laps or 1.5 k. I walked for about 50 feet and then ran 2 more laps without a break.

I could have done more but I had a hair appointment downtown and I knew that I was already cutting it close. When I got home it took me forever to cool down. I reasoned that if I took a shower right away I’d just start sweating again when I got out. In the end I was really rushed to make my appointment and I was about 10 minutes late. Luckily it wasn’t a busy morning and my hairstylist was able to accommodate me.

I came home after my appointment and was surprised with a beautiful pot of flowers from my aunt and an even bigger surprise was waiting for me on the deck. Parked in front of the sliding glass doors was a gorgeous red city bike.

My new Linus Dutchie in my favourite colour.

This, I was not expecting at all.

I didn’t have time to test ride it because I had another appointment for a European pedicure and a manicure.

Having my feet pampered is one of my favourite indulgences and it was courtesy of my son B who gave me the gift certificate last Christmas. His girlfriend, A picked out the spa. Good job guys. I felt completely pampered and my feet and nails look great.

For those of you who don’t know what a European pedicure is let me explain and show you. First of all, everything you experience with a regular pedicure is included in the European version. The difference is the application of not one but two different masks that are applied to your feet and legs. The first one is a ‘cooling’ mask that is teal green in colour and the second application is a ‘warm’ paraffin wax.

The ‘cooling’ mask.

The ‘warm’ paraffin wax application covered with warming booties.

The finished product.

After a relaxing afternoon at the spa I headed home to get ready for dinner.

Now I have to admit that I love surprises. All day I’ve been curious about how the day would end. I wouldn’t be disappointed.

…… to be continued.

My Computer is Sick

….. we have an appointment to see the computer doctor tomorrow morning

Today was K’s last chemo treatment. The girls and I decided to surprise him and join him for lunch at a nice restaurant on Roncesvales. He was really pleased to see us walk through the door. While we were in the restaurant an old friend of ours walked through the door. I don’t think he recognized us right away but we invited him to join us. It was nice to catch up with him. He told us that he had an art show next to the restaurant and invited us to look at his paintings.

In the coffee shop, next door, there were about a dozen small colourful abstract paintings done by Sam. After admiring his work the strangest thing happened. He asked us which ones were our favourites and then he pulled them off the wall and gave them to us. I tried to pay for them but he wouldn’t take any money. When I get back on my own computer I will post a picture of the painting he gifted me.

I might have to take a break from posting stories for a few days until I get my computer problems sorted. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. I also need my computer to work on my report cards. I miss it already. Stay tuned.
