Most of the leaves are still on the trees and many have not changed colour yet but there’s definitely more light coming through the branches, especially on this beauty where the branches have left a gaping hole in the middle.

This is a form of pruning deciduous trees called Pollarding. It prevents the trees from becoming too large and gangly. It is considered a severe form of pruning and does not work on all trees.
