I’m continuing with my red theme in patterns. I love this paisley activity from Lisa Congdon at Creative Bug.

…..day 11
I’m continuing with my red theme in patterns. I love this paisley activity from Lisa Congdon at Creative Bug.

I’ve always like the Paisley pattern, partly because of the shapes and colours and partly because of the gorgeous shawls in silk, wool and cotton that were made in it. I was in seventh heaven when my husband bought me a large shawl (more a blanket) at an auction many years ago. It’s slightly damaged with holes, but wonderful to have such a wonderful piece of history. And of course Paisley is a town near Glasgow in Scotland. It’s where Coats the thread people used to have mills, sending their threads around the world.

Thanks for the history of Paisley. I had no idea that it came from a town in Scotland.
