Forgot My Computer at School

…….can’t access my report cards, upload my photos

Yesterday I stayed at school until 8:00 pm. The school council hosted a Hallowe’en party

for the kids Friday evening and the book fair was open for the parents to browse and shop while their children enjoyed the activities that were organized for them. The principal stayed and helped me at the cash desk while I restocked the shelves, helped parents with their purchases and took a few pictures. When it was time to go home I quickly grabbed my things, locked up and drove home.

It wasn’t until I got home that I realized that I had left my laptop at school. It was too late to go back. All I have to work on is the iPad and again I’m having some difficulty writing my post. I’m unable to upload my photos from the camera and as you can see I’m having some spacing issues. The other problem that I have is that our report cards are due on Monday and I can’t access them with the iPad. Hopefully I can input my marks first thing Monday morning before the report cards are printed in the afternoon.

I feel lost without my laptop. How sad is that! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I should be back up to speed on Monday.

Frustrated!

….blogging shouldn’t be this difficult

I’ve always sung the praises of blogging on WordPress. A couple of years ago, I tried setting up an account on another blogging site and didn’t have much success. My sisters and I were the only people who read it, which at the time was fine but not very satisfying. When I started with WordPress I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was and I started to garner a following pretty quickly.

Several months ago I experienced my first problem with WordPress. For some reason I couldn’t publish my post. I thought I had successfully published it. It showed up on my Facebook page but the next day when I didn’t receive any responses from readers I discovered that the post was still in a draft. I don’t know what I did but eventually it was published. I asked for advice and one of my followers suggested that I close all other windows before I push the publish button.

That seemed to work until this week. It took me over an hour to write my post “Mexican Delights”. When I went to post the article it showed up in its entirety on the screen but when I checked it on Facebook only the first two paragraphs were there. None of the photos or links appeared. Fortunately I was able to find it in one of the many drafts that appear below the text box. I saved the draft again and published it a second time.

I can’t tell you how many times I had to do this. I closed all previous windows but that didn’t seem to work. After a couple of hours the post finally published and stayed that way. As much as I love blogging, I don’t have the luxury of that much time to waste on rewriting and reposting my stories.

That’s the main reason I haven’t posted much this week. I was very frustrated from the last experience. So I’m asking again if anyone else has experienced the same problems and how did you resolve it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Cheers!

More Awards – Thank You Diane

….I’ve chosen to accept the following

Diane from Heron There and Everywhere has nominated me for 5 awards. I don’t know how I feel about multiple awards but I know that I find it more difficult to nominate others when the awards are so different. Here are the rules:

Display the Award Certificates on your blog.
Thank the person who nominated you and link back to them.
Nominate 15 bloggers for these awards and leave a comment to let them know. (Sorry I could only nominate 10).

Here are my nominations for The Awards.  You all inspire me to be a better blogger.  If your blog is an Award Free Blog, please accept my well-meaning thoughts and appreciation for the great job that you do. I very much enjoy each and everyone of your blogs.

Getting Caught Up

…..99 emails to go

I thought when I went to Ireland I would have trouble keeping up with my emails from my fellow bloggers that I faithfully follow. I did fall behind reading posts in my Reader but I managed to enjoy the posts that come directly to my email.

The problem of staying up to date happened when I went to the cottage. As some of you know I don’t have electricity let alone internet access up there. When I was away for more than a weekend I would write articles, save them and then post them once I came home. Towards the end of the summer I discovered that the library in the village had free WiFi so I went there a couple of times to post some of my writing.

Last week I returned home to open my classroom. I spent three full days at school cleaning up other people’s rooms, and trying to put books back onto the shelves in the library. On Friday I went back to the cottage for the last weekend of my summer holiday and returned Sunday. This morning when I opened my emails I had 99 unread posts.

Should I just delete them and start fresh when new ones come in or do I read 10 or more of the old ones a day plus the new ones that come in? Sometimes I look for the posts that I know are photographs or art work with very little text and I open them first. It’s the longer posts that I’m having trouble getting to. I know first hand how disappointing it is when you pour your heart and soul into your writing and no one reads it. What would you do? Am I making a problem where no problem exists? Help me with my conundrum, PLEASE!
