Last year I took the bulbs out after blooming for the first time – and forgot to put them back in.

Oh no. I was surprised to see a couple of tulips blooming this year. I think if you leave them in the ground they are less likely to be dug up because the soil is more compact than freshly planted bulbs. Don’t know what to do about critters eating the flowers though.

If you leave them in, they get deeper and deeper and get smaller – that’s what I heard. Anyway, next year I will leave them in.

It’s less hassle that’s for sure. When we first moved into our house the previous owner planted tulips and those beauties kept coming back year after year. A few years ago we completely took away that part of the garden to widen it and the tulips went with it.

My garden is very little. In spring its filled with snowdrops, they are all from my mother, who died years ago. Its a great memory.

I’m hoping that the narcissus that were gifted to me when Dad died will come back every year. I think of him every time I look into my garden.
