…from Toronto to Calgary
Who knew that travelling west to Calgary could be the equivalent of going south in search of warmer weather. Well that might be a bit of a stretch but the temperature in Toronto went down to -30 celsius with the wind chill and the visibility was close to zero as I sat on the tarmac waiting for our plane to be de-iced.
When we arrived in Calgary most of the snow had melted, the sun shone brightly and the temperature was sitting at 14 degrees celsius. When I got to my sister’s place I had to change my clothes because I was literally too uncomfortable in my fleece lined pants and sweater.
It is only 7:00 am here in Calgary but my internal clock can’t seem to adjust to the time change. I’ve only had six hours of sleep and I’m wide awake so I’ve decided to post a few pictures of yesterday’s plane trip. Enjoy!
- Over frozen Lake Michigan
- Across the snow covered Praires
- Approaching Calgary
- Way off in the distance you can see the mountains
- Calgary suburbs
- Calgary industrial neighbourhood
- Downtown in the distance

It’s amazing how much the weather can change traveling east and west. How far is Calgary from the mountains?

Urrrgh! That looks cold. You must be fed up with low temperatures and snow. A balmy double figures here today. around twelve I think. And everything is suddenly bursting into life. Great.

Well at least in Calgary the temperature has been hovering around 10 degrees celsius and the snow is almost all melted away. My husband said it was a bit warmer in Toronto today but I think cold temperatures have been forecast for the week we go back to school. I know this can’t last but spring can’t come soon enough.

The snow fell in Toronto and Calgary, which is normally colder, was much warmer and almost snow free.

I’m stunned about the winter you had .. and some parts of US had this near .. like in Siberia.
Yesterday I saw a big pile of plowed snow on Jersey in the middle of the English Channel … that normally has such mild climate the whole year around. And we had in total 6 days of snow this year. The weather has lost it’s plot.
