We usually have to wait until the fall for colours like this but this variety of maple starts out with this lovely red colour.

This one is particularly large but I’m not sure what you mean by ‘will be allowed to get to this size’. Isn’t that up to the tree?

It would be if we carried on living here, but we hope to move within next couple of years and I suspect those moving in with remove many of our trees

I love Japanese Maples. I haven’t seen too many in Prescott. We had tons of them in Oregon.

I had some in CA, but they didn’t do well. It was very hot, but you could put them in the shade of other trees. What did amazingly well there that I loved were crape myrtles.
