She was rescuing her young ones which were in our deck box. They usually don’t bother with people but I’m sure if we got too close to her babies she could get pretty vicious.
Yes, I got a series of them – 4, to be exact over a period of a few weeks. Terri thought my screams were a wolf, since we lived in the country. At least she heard me. Vince couldn’t even hear me. All I had with me as a weapon were my legs. They worked fine. I didn’t suffer any lasting damage.
Lucky you. How is it that you have so many animals in your backyard? Wish we’d had a better shot of the baby coon. One of my favorite pets ever was a baby coon rescued from the dogs that killed his mother. We had him for two years before we could finally release him to the wild.
Marsha just told me she was bitten by a racoon. We live right by the lake and there are lots of creeks that into it from further north. Apparently wildlife follow the creek and many animals end up in the city. Two years ago I followed a deer into our neighbourhood. We also have fox and coyote. Last year I posted photos of the silver fox (actually black and white) that was strolling down the street towards the park. I saw her again earlier this spring.
That raccoon looks pretty scary to me!

You knew I got bit by one last summer? Terri was staying with us that night. It made a great story, but was pretty scary at the time.

Actually I didn’t know that. I know they will attack if they feel you are threatening their babies. Did have to get a rabies shot?

That’s good to know….that you didn’t suffer any lasting damage but it must have been pretty traumatic.

It was at the time. It made a great story afterwards. The people at the hospital were dealing with COVID, so I was pretty small beans to them.

Thanks Cee. We’ve always said that we have more wildlife right here in the city than we have up at the cottage.
