I’m sitting here, alone, in my living room reading a few emails before I need to seriously finish decorating the tree, wrap a few more presents and fill the stockings. Tonight we will be celebrating Christmas at my daughter’s house. It will be the first time in 30 years that we haven’t celebrated in our home. I feeling somewhat nostalgic about that but with time things change.
Before I continue with my chores I wanted to send all my loyal followers and new bloggers who are just visiting for the first time a special holiday greeting. I wish for love, good health, joy and peace for all. May 2017 bring you all these things and more. For me the simple things in life bring me much pleasure and spending time with family and friends is more important than the number of gifts under the Christmas tree. I think that’s why I always have such a hard time asking for things I’d like for Christmas or my birthday.
This photo, taken two days ago embodies the joy I get from being with my loved ones.
Thanks for sharing the joy! Happy holidays to you and yours.

Happy Holidays to you too!! Yes, things change. This is my first Christmas without my mother. To think I had Christmas with her for 71 years!! She recently died at age 98.

Wow, that’s amazing. I guess I’ll be celebrating with my dad for the 64th time this year. He’s aiming to make it to 100….another 10 years from now.

Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones! Having family around is the important thing, where to celebrate is not so crucial. Home is where the hearts are 😊🎄

Wherever you are, have a great time. Both our sons are here but daughter and her family are too far away to travel when the break is so short. Just finished wrapping presents. The old tin bath (revitalised several years ago with a coat of blue paint) serves as Santa’s sleigh and we pile the presents into it on Christmas eve to be handed around on Christmas morning after we’ve all equipped ourselves with a cup of coffee and whatever we fancy to eat. Then we’ll have lunch – my home made pâté with salad, with the turkey saved for dinner so I can take my time over cooking it and the trimmings, fortified by a glass or two of wine.
Am now off to organise our Christmas eve dinner – salmon cooked in the oven., and to look out the well-travelled gold candles taken to Madeira and brought back for Christmas.
Enjoy yourself.

Sounds delightful. Just got back from our daughter’s place. Our granddaughter didn’t nap today and when it was time to open gifts she was pretty tired. Had a wonderful meal and loved playing with Winnie until she went down for the night. After that we exchanged gifts and enjoyed homemade treats and tea.
