So is it just one of those things that people think it’s fun to add to (despite losing what look like perfectly good shoes) or is it commemorative – a reminder of those who have walked that way, or a quirky memorial to friends no longer around? Any thoughts?

This tree was started by one person who no longer needed his work boots and he put them on the tree for someone else to take. http://www.torontosun.com/2015/07/18/shoe-trees-are-popping-up-all-over

They do and there are many theories as to why. This tree was started by one man who no longer needed his work boots and he decided to hang them on the tree for someone else to take.http://www.torontosun.com/2015/07/18/shoe-trees-are-popping-up-all-over
